Greetings!
I can help you with this as I use Sound Forge all the time and their is a
procedure that you should follow.
First, play the file that you wish to edit or move the cursor to the point
where you want the selection to start and then press the "[" key, this will
set a start marker.
Move the cursor to the end point of the chunk you wish to edit and press
the "]" key, this will set the end mark. Press "R" to creat a region, if
necessary type in a name for the region in the edit box presented, you may
wish to do this if you're going to be extracting regions to wave files.
Repeat the steps outlined above to create as many regions as required, you
can go into the regions list by hitting "ALT-1", in this list you can
rename regions, delete regions etc.
To extract your regions to wave files, select "EXTRACT REGIONS" from the
"TOOLS" menu.
Cheers

Hi,
For purpose of my thesis work, I need to be able to cut a sound
file into
chunks that I could replay at a later point.
I have tried to do it with Sound Forge 4.5 but without much
success. I can
place the cursor where I want the "region" or "marker" to be placed but I
don't succeed to place a permanent mark there. I think one of the problem
is that I don't know how to select the data.
I'd like to know if any of you has worked with these kinds of
programs and
what you came up with. I could use an other program than Sound Forge, I
just happened to have that one and I don't know if the others would be
better. I need to find a solution pretty quickly because, being able to
process those files, is an important part of my upcoming thesis.
I'm a new subscriber so I'm sorry if I didn't direct my msg properly.
Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
Severine Renard
