I have never seen any "blind oriented" computer info; for the older hobbyist.
Most I see is for the real working class, with sponsorship or "commission" help.
 
So is there any "package", or list of programs, and download URL's, and prices if pertinent, for what the "average non-professional blind user" (I.E. the little old lonely retired person with limited income) needs.

Things I think they want to do:
Basic Linux, ala RedHat $60? or any Braille, or tape oriented versions?
      (Or is my assumption that Linus is cheapest, and virus free wrong)
Speech, (like Jaws with eloquence or??
E-mail, like  Eudora
Word processor, (like WordStar?) enough to write letters, or articles, and
                   spell  check
Flatbed scanner and interpreter, 
Home accounting , like  Quicken.

The specifications for a computer to do above, so one use a older cheaper one.

Info for fancier computer to do the Web searches, etc.
