Musa,
I thank you very much for the info or details you provided in your mail.
I have been trying to put up something on the forum in regard to the July
4th celebrations but could not due to a tight schedule and you have just
created an opportunity for me to dash in. As an advocate of PROGRESS, UNITY
and ONENESS, I am pleased to read that there is a group with the zeal to
take us back to the "SUPER EAGLES AND IFANG" days. I wish them every success
and any other Gambia group in their endeavours.
The reason for my contribution is that I am really hurt to learn about the
dispute among Gambians in Atlanta. Correct me if I am wrong. Months ago, I
read a similar "complaint" or issue from Bass Ndow about the dispute and I
thought a solution has been reached. Unfortunately, just a couple of weeks
ago, our KC rep to the ALD was given an invitation card for our community
and they bore a different name from AAGCO. From unreliable sources, I
understand there are two different Gambian organizations celebrating the
event in Atlanta. If this is the case, I would like to give some
considerations.
- to every problem there is a solution.
- I know friends and relatives hoping to have fun there would love
to do so with one group (GAMBIANS and Friends).
Gambia-L, almost every other mail sent to the forum contains something
similar to "we should try and be one and that is the only way we can achieve
a better Gambia". Well, I believe in practicing what I preach and so, am
very concerned about bringing Atlanta under one umbrella. I know it can be
achieved because we have very good and respectful members who can make it
happen. I would suggest the two parties ( if there are) to forget the past
and start a new union. Let's just imagine what a divided community do yield.
Musa, I have known you for a while now, since thew good GHS days and I know
that you can do it. I will be in Atlanta on June 23rd thru 26th to attend
the ALIE annual Gamo. If you can give me digits (phone # in a private mail),
I will contact you as soon as I hit town. On that matter, I, on behalf on
the Gamo Committees Association, would like to invite you all to Atlanta. I
will post separate invitations for the forthcoming Gamos in DC, Miami,
Dallas and Kansas City.
