I have an old Creative Soundblaster Pro 2 sound card. The PC has an
Amptron Pm9600A mb, 32m PC100 dimm, K62-266 over clocked to 300. Running
W98 SE. The problem is that when I go into the control panel, select
Sounds, select a sound and click the > for preview, it starts the sound
and will not stop. It is like it is hung and won't quit until I hit the
stop button. If I go into the volume control and mute the Wave control,
it doesn't make any sound but doesn't hang, either.
This is the second Soundblaster card I have had. The other one was older
and was running under W95. Both had this exact same problem.
I am stuck with this type of card until I buy a newer CD. Mine is the
Creative 2x and requires the proprietary connector on the sound card. It
will not work if connected to and IDE cable.
Thanks, Bob
