Karyn,
I am new to this idea ot Celiac and suspect that I may have the disease also.
At present I am not on any special diet.
However, like you, I have problems with constipation and I work out
regularly and have for 25 years. I always had to work hard and constant
to maintain any muscle tone and didn't the muscle tone that most children
have when I was a skinny little girl. Up until Menopause, I was able, with
hard work, keep some muscle tone, but now, even with hormones of all
kinds, I can't, especially in my legs which I work out the most! I am
trying to gain mass and weight in my skinny legs and can't. So I don't
know if it is related to diet or not. I know I have malabsorption
problems, but with all foods, and am taking lots of enzymes with my meals.
That helps my digestive problems a lot.
I have often wondered if I'm working out too much also. Maybe 3 or 4
days a week would be better and give our bodies the chance to build
muscle and/or trim up.
I have heard from a friend of mine who has multiple chemical sensitivities
(I do also) that she is taking L-Arginine and L-Ornithine which stimulate
the growth hormone and that is helping her immune system plus her muscle
tone. So I am going to try that. Those are amino acids.
I thought that after starting Testosterone (for my osteoporosis) that I
would gain muscle, but nope, I didn't! :(
So I can identify and emphasize, but I don't have any answers....yet. :)
Martha
