You will need to provide more information about this. How are you installing
the CDrom? Is it installed as a master or slave? And on what IDE channel?
Primary or secondary? Generally, CDroms are installed as a Master on the
SECONDARY IDE channel and then the SECONDARY channel is set to AUTO detect
in the system's bios.

Subject: [PCBUILD] Boot problems/new motherboard
I replaced a MB8500TTD motherboard with a TX PRO II - Intergrated sound and
video.
The system is 200mhz Pentium with MMX ; AMI PLUG and PLAY BIOS Ver.1.0A ; a
Champion 3200-2AF hard drive. This is the first MB I have replaced so there
is some room for oversight on my part but everything went well except:
1.) The computer won't boot if I just turn it on; it will boot if I go into
the BIOS to check the setting and hit "enter" . I did run auto-detect, it
detected the hard drive, the settings are there but it won't boot when I
turn
on the power or hit "restart" from windows.
2.) If I connect the CD-ROM the computer freezes after it "recognizes" the
CD. If I do not connect the CD the computer will boot-refer to the above.
Outside of installing the occassional modem this is all pretty knew to me.
My
background knowledge comes only from reading. So far, I find it challenging
and fun.
I appreaciate any help.
Thanks
