I agree with what Mary Wolden says re the epson 870 Photo range, you can
not tell the printouts from real photos when you use glossy photopaper.
I have just bought one and am very pleased with it.
On the matter of a scanner you might want to look at the HP 5370c, it is
a 42 bit colour scanner which gives excellent copies and has a very
capable negative/positive Adapter (active) supplied with it. If you
need to scan photos & negs or slides this is a cost effective way to do
both, ( I was looking at the epson 1200u but settled on the hp cos of
the neg attachment, for the extra $100 it is a bargain!
