We have Windows 2000, and it wont let us get in bios mode.
Here's what we did today
On Saturday, 9/2/00, bought a PIII 550 to install on our ABIT BH6 MB (version
1.01 / 1.0A) 1.01 from the sticker on the board, 1.0A from the start up screen.
This is a system bought in 1998, and have continued to upgrade.
Problem #1:
downloaded the flash program and the BIOS file ( think) we need (BH6LH.EXE)
I read all the instructions and tried every trick I can think of.
How do I know if that is the correct file?
How do I install it?
The instructions say that I must boot from "pure DOS" which I can't seem to
do with
my operating system.
I created a rescue disk, but I still cannot boot from (DOS).
Problem #2:
My modem (US Robotics V90 56K voice Int.) is on com port #4.
After trying to get my BIOS to recognize the new processor, the computer
did not
allow me to use the modem. Port 2 and Port 4 were both enabled, which
created a
conflict. I deleted com 2 from the device manager which allowed the modem to
work again, but as soon as I re-boot, port 2 is re-installed, re-creating
the conflict.
How can I fix this one?
Thank you in advance,
Butch & Patti Gates
