i have acquired a compaq presario 4508 (200mmx) with a compaq 336-df
56k-upgradeable modem. the modem is apparently a series psb228 model
293057-001, if i'm reading the right numbers.
i'm on a tight budget and would like to upgrade the modem rather than
replace it - if that's actually cheaper.
compaq lists both a flash, available at compaq's web site, and a required
hardware upgrade for this modem, and instructs users to contact a compaq
repair facility for the hardware upgrade. i did and got a blank stare.
anybody know what's needed for the upgrade and where i can get it, or
whether it's not worth it?
thanks
