I wish that were true for me, because I have a very strong liking
for salt, which is much harder for me to resist than sugar. I
have succeeded in abstaining from salt for lengthy periods of
time, but I have never lost the desire for it, and I at least
imagine that I feel better when I get it. This is probably
because when I go without salt I gradually lose interest in food
altogether. I have in the past perversely used this anorexia as
a weight-reduction strategy, but it's not very pleasant.
I do not have a problem with high blood pressure, as long as I
restrict my carb intake. When my pressure was high, avoiding
salt didn't lower it; when it became normal, eating salt didn't
raise it.
