Thanks for the info.  My husband and I built a very nice movable
chicken coop out of aluminum scrap, chicken wire, a plywood nest
box, with a piece of corrugated roofing.  We moved it all over the garden
last summer.  He designed and built it very sturdy and light, and it cost
more than I expected, but still less than $300 for a 4x8 coop.  Our 7 hens
lay 5-6 eggs a day, more than we can eat.  In many cities, you can keep a
few hens (not roosters because of the noise) in your back yard.  They eat
weeds and bugs, and turn them into eggs.  Plus they drop lots of free
fertilizer right where it is needed.  What a deal!

My next step is to work out my own feed and stop buying the stuff in
the bags.  The chicken web site will be helpful.
