What if people weren't squeemish back then because they performed some ritual
to appease the spirit of the prey? Actually, I doubt there were any guilt
feelings at all, but why would there be? I do suspect that they (various
groups/cultures of humans) may have done something to honor the animal and
that
they understood its--and their own places in the community of life, something
humans have tried to distance themselves from...
