depends on the state and the rules there. I would contact a lawyer on estate
palnning before the situation occurs.
For example, here in NY if you use the Social Services and then you at a
later date receive an inheritance. They get it to re-pay what you "borrowed
in need". Should there be any left, you get that.
Especially if you win a NY State lottery..If you try to claim the tix
winnings under your name that has received any public assistance, medicaid,
or food stamps, heap, etc. The computer deducts the amt. of the winning from
the "balance" assigned to you that you borrowed.
(A friend was very sad one day trying to collect a prize!)
Rules vary by state..but check into it before you have an inheritance
dissappear. Might be better to leave it to someone else in the will, who will
share with you.
