Oddly enough, the State Supreme Court of Ohio (state or province of the US)
recently held that the local police are not legally responsible to protect
the lives of the citizenry, and it is up to the individual officer whether
or not he/she wants to protect civilian lives in a "deadly force" situation.
What a culture!

Well - i see their point - a person becomes a cop - to protect people - not to get killed..
- Its up to an individual cop as to how much he/she is willing to risk their own lives..
However, of the 'cop' TV shows etc.. - They do get up to some hair-raising stuff..
- in NZ we get shows on "wildest police chases" etc.. -
