This is how windows reports the CPU ID string with the New CPUs. for
instance my Celeron is reported as being a P II. Each CPU has an ID as long
as windows know what ID corresponds with what processor. I would think that
the Next Relese of the Windows 9x kernel of OS's will fix this.
question: How does Windows 2000 Report a PIII as being???

Subject: [PCBUILD] Is It Real or Is It Butter
pcbuild,
I just picked a machine that was built by a local computer store on
contract. The CPU is supposed to be a P 3 - 500. I checked in device
manager and it reports the CPU as" x86 Family 6 Model 8 stepping 1 ", What's
This?
