A member of our support group called me asking if sores on tonsils meant
a Celiac problem. Both she and her daughter have this problem now and
then. The replies follow--thanks:
Seven people had not heard of sores on tonsils due to Celiac. Following
are their comments: (1) reads extensively on DH and has never seen any
reference to sores on tonsils; (2) Was sick for 38 years before
diagnosis and had never had sores on tonsils; (3) wondered if it is
thrush--an infection of yeast or fungus called Candida Albicans; (4) one
had it and result was strep throat; (5) another thought it sounded like
strep; (6) a nurse has not had those problems--has seen sores on tonsils
of others and it was called "crypts"--tiny pus pockets; (7) common to
get herpe sores on lips and corner of mouth--never had any on tonsils.
One had tonsils removed as a child because of frequent sores &
infections.
One was sick for 3 yrss and lots of trouble with tonsils--infections and
visible sores. No trouble since going GF.
Sounds like she needs to see a doctor when they reoccur as well as pay
attention to see if she is getting hidden gluten (may not be a gluten
problem however).
