Hello,
I just joined this group which seems to have a large membership.
I look forward to discussions related to Jung and psychotherapy in
particular.
I am a published poet but I make my living as a psychotherapist in private
practice.
I have been interested in Jung and recently I been studying Jungian
practical concepts
for psychotherapy. Recently I have taken a homestudy course as a review of
Jungian concepts and to get credit for this knowledge - to formalize it
would be
a better word.
I was wondering if I could get some feedback or ideas on some study
questions
that were presented to demonstrate knowledge of Jungian Analytic Psychology.
I already went through the study module with tapes and transcript but wanted
to
get some other perspectives on a question or two.
One question asks: Think of a patient/client, aquaintance, or yourself and
briefly describe
the person. Include each of the following factors/items in your
description:
This is where I get a bit unclear
1)type(s) of complex(es) - Isn't there complexes that we all have? For
example, I was just
listening to 'Jung: Interpreting your Dreams' and the presenter said that
when we say, "he has a
Mother Complex" that doesn't make sense as we all have a mother complex. So
how would
anyone reading this interpret the question?
2) mode(s) of expression of complex(es) - similar to above, are we looking
at predominate
complexes that we would notice?
3) personal unconscious - how would we know that unless we had done jungian
analysis with
oneself or the person - client/patient?
4) expression/awareness of archetypes and the universal unconscious - this
question also leaves
me a bit confused. We could speculate on this but when the overall question
says Think of this in
terms of an aquaintance, how would we come up with an answer for this?
The other items that I seek feedback on (again, with the question focusing
on possibly even
an aquaintance) are Functioning of the Ego, the Self; persona, shadow,
Anima/Animus?
Thanks in advance for any and all help,
Bruce
