I'm having a problem with cold-boot POST failures
with an abit-ka7 motherboard with a geforce2 gts
(creative) video card.
daryl crawford <[log in to unmask]> pointed me
to a very useful abit-ka7 faq:
http://www.casema.net/~howland/ka7faq/ka7faq.htm
which said that this can be a known problem with the
ka7 and the geforce2.
Could anyone help me with some concrete questions
I have? I asked abit technical support, but haven't heard
anything back. The message I sent them follows:
I assembled an abit-ka7-based system with a creative labs
geforce2 gts video card.
The system sometimes takes several tries to POST on
a cold power-up.
I have seen in a FAQ that there may be a known issue
with the ka7 and the geforce2 gts.
The FAQ said that the POST reports a video error, and that
ka7's manufactured after July 2000 incorporate a fix.
I don't know how to interpret the POST beeps. Could
you tell me the POST codes so that I can decide if
my POST failures are due to a video error?
Also, how can I determine when my ka7 was manufactured?
Is there a date-stamp on it? Is the fix for the geforce2
problem something that is visible to the naked eye?
Thank you for your help with this matter.
