He hypothesizes that chronic stress causes an overload of antioxidants which explains his anecdotal observation of a high proportion of degenerative dieseases in some elite athletes of whom he is aware. Of course, he touts antioxdant dietary and supplement measure. Ironically, Dr. Cooper is often referred to as the father of aerobic excercise (the fad, that is). He tends toward mainstream medical and dietary advice but is thoughtful and has made his life work pursuit of emperical knowledge re fitness. I would like to learn of any peer reviewed studies that support or refute Cooper's proposition as to endurance athletes in particular. Rick
