I am a raw meat eater but recently I have also been eating some very
cooked meat. When I read your message I had just eaten the cooked meat
the night before. When I tested my first morning urine the pH read 5.8
and the a couple of days later on a diet of raw meat, citrus fruits, raw
eggs and avocados, It tested ar 6.2 pH. This is still acid. I am not
sure that I am interested in just eating raw meat for a couple of days
for further testing. This would be more restrictive. I also asked a
friend who is a chiropractic doctor in the US. He went to a textbook
that he had used in school by Arthur C. Guydon, M.D. The title is
Textbook of Medical Physiology. It is the fourth edition and was
published in 1971. On page 437 I found a discussion of this. I will
paraphrase it a little.
In maintaining the pH of the extracellular fluid of 7.4 the kidneys will
produce a urine ranging from 4.5 to 8.0 pH. and ...the normal urine pH
is about 6.0 instead of the 7.4 pH of the blood. It also said that the
body usually produces slightly more acid that alkaline products.
When I was a raw food vegan as I remember my urine pH was usually in the
range of 7.2 to 7.6. I one told this to a doctor on a call in radio show
and he said that this was dangerous and that I should quickly do
something to bring it down. His suggestion was mineral supplements. As I
recall he was a chiropractor rather that a medical doctor.
