Grateful if you could confirm or deny this information regarding John
Bojang.

Mr Saidy, I called the Gambia, a few minutes ago, trying to get some
information on Dr Sidat Jobe, Gambia's Foreign Minister,  and, in the
process, was informed about a new development in government, concerning John
Bojang.

I was told that John Bojang, who is presently the Gambia's High Commissioner
to the UK, has been transferred to Washington DC, to become the Gambia's
ambassador to the United States of America, with effect from 1 December
1999.

I was also informed that Bala Jahumpa, presently The Gambia's deputy High
Commissioner to the UK, has been promoted to replace Mr John Bojang, as the
new High Commissioner, effective from 1 December 1999.

Mr Saidy, with regard to Mr Jahumpa's appointment, you do not have to bother
yourself to check the information for me, because Mr Jahumpa himself has
just confirm to me - via telephone - that he has been asked to take over
from John Bojang with effective from 1 December.

I wholeheartedly welcome Mr Jahumpa in his new post, and I wish him good
luck.

I am receiving some interesting information regarding Dr Sidat Jobe,
Gambia's Foreign Minister, which I intend to share with this forum IF the
information is accurate.

However, if you do not hear anything from me, regarding Dr Sidat Jobe, then
take it that the information I received about him is inaccurate.
