They count on UV and water protection provided by vinyl siding, I suppose,
both being rather questionable. I gave my sample of Rwrap to a student,
otherwise I'd try vinegar (acid rain) on it. A homebuilder's and
preservationist's "long term" differ by orders of magnitude. The standard
unit of "term" for a homebuilder is 7 years, when the first owner moves out
and the shingles start to look bad. Among homebuilders there is a decided
retreat from housewraps and back toward #15 felt under claddings.
The technician I spoke with was Jennifer Cabrey, who was very helpful and
knowledgeable. http://www.simplex-products.com
