Cortisol prevents release of essential fatty acids from cell membranes.   This
process is needed for eicosanoid creation, among other things (if you don't know
about eicosanoids, you should read one of the relevant books by Eades or Sears).
Suffice it to say that they regulate your entire hormonal system.
