Usual disclaimer: MD me not.
Sorry to beat a dead horse gang, but I wanted to give you an ideal of just
how low a calorie diet the Zone is. I've gone back to tracking my food
intake on a rather anal database. It is titled Diet Balancer, by Nutridata
Software Corporation - nice program. Anyway, I am on lowcarb at the moment
and eating 10 x my bodyweight. Her is today's food plan.
Breakfast
2 eggs
1 tsp olive oil
2 strips bacon
1/2 cup cooked mushrooms
Snack
6 oz can tuna fish in water
1 Tbs Flax oil
Lunch
6 oz. chicken breast
1 Tbs flax oil dressing
Snack
1 oz pork rinds
2 oz walnuts
Dinner
6 oz broiled salmon
1 Tbs paleo mayonnaise
Snack
1 can Kipper snacks (Crown Prince)
This is not a lot of food. I lift on a 3 day split and do moderate
aerobics on off days. This whole mess comes out to:
2105 calories
206 grams protein
13.5 grams carbs
142 grams fat
But the Zone would have me eat half of this!!!! I am not bashing the Zone
for its balancing of meals between fat, pro and carb. (I am going for zero
carb due for ketosis, but I would not want to stay there forever.) Rather,
I bash the Zone for its severe calorie restriction. I know what the severe
restriction did to me, and I would save you all that grief.
