Here is the summary of responses about the GF status of SPAM. Generally, it
sounds like the original is GF, but not necessarily the ones with flavors.
*****
it is GF, as far as we know, in California. Hormel keeps in good contact I
believe. Our son does fine on it.

I know that Spam is horrible for anyone, but my husband cannot have gluten,
soy & milk/dairy, so we try to find something different for him. The spam
he had does not have the modified food starch.
*****
My daughter cannot eat Spam either.. It has modified food starch in it
here in Oklahoma.
*****
Personally, spam would give my gut a reaction whether or not it contained
gluten. It contains so much FAT and so little meat, I can't figure out why
*****
Did you check the Spam? I know Treet which is the same thing has modified
food starch in it. Just something to check out.
*****
Tell him not to eat Spam anymore. I've seen it in process at Hormel's.

As far as I know the original Spam is gluten free. Think there are
flavors now and don't know about them.
I just called Hormel yesterday, because I noticed that the Pepperoni had
Gluten Free right on the packaging. Wanted to THANK them!!! Anyway, the
woman from Hormel mentioned that Spam, Hormel Chili with beans, Dinty Moore
Beef Stew, and the Hormel Chunks in cans (Ham, Chicken, or Turkey) are GF.
