I have a testing question for everyone.. (aren't I full of emails
today?)

My son, now 2 1/2 was tested when he was about 17 months old.
He had only been, at that point, exposed to any gluten for 5 months.
He tested borderline on the endomysial test, the gliaden test and
negative (according to the pediatric gi doc) on the biopsy.
Of course, this is the same doc who said that the gf diet is impossible
to follow and that he doesn't give diagnoses unless people show all
signs...

Sooo...my questions are these...do you think he was exposed to gluten
long enough to test positive? Shouldn't the blood work be enough to
put him on a gf diet?

Since they will be testing near UNC in Chapel Hill, NC this month, I'm
seriously thinking about taking him to be re-tested. I really want to
know your opinions..

He "looks" like a celiac kid...He's little (he started out at 9 lbs 5 oz
and now only weighs 30 lbs at 2 years and 8 months). he has the
distended belly, and the circles under his eyes. other than very foul
smelling and sometimes unusual stools, and some odd behavior, he doesn't
have any obvious symptoms.

I went through all the testing as well. Tested positive for gliaden,
borderline/negative on endomysial and negative according to biopsy. I
won't give my whole history. But along with the biopsy, they found
pre-cancerous polyps on me..which was enough for me to go gf...and I
improved 10000%. So I really believe that I probably am celiac, but
again..dr's won't diagnose it because of the difficulty with the diet
and imposing lifestyle changes...anyway...

I am really interested to hear what you guys think...whether I should
have him retested or not.

Thanks..sorry this was so long
Andrea
