Hello, All
Recently had a bone scan which showed osteopenia. My doc has prescribed a
calcium supplement and wishes me to take 1000 mg calcium a day (it has a
2:1 ratio of cal to magnesium). I started last night. Felt as if I was
taking a natural tranquilizer at bedtime by taking this supplement (my
second dose at bedtime). This morning I was OK and got a lot done around
the house. Was looking forward to getting out and about his afternoon.
But after lunch today (which completed the 1000 mg in a 24 hour period) I
have been feeling out of sorts, tired, depressed, and somewhat headachy.
I would appreciate any personal experiences with calcium supplementation
any of you might have. I wonder if calcium dosage should be related to
body weight. I'm a 110-lb woman. Do you think 1000 mg of calcium a day is
too much? Has anyone had similar experiences? Has decreasing the amount of
calcium helped?
