Problem with modem connection

I have problems connecting to the internet using my 56K external Zoltrix
modem. About 9 out of every attempts to connect result in error 630 (almost
as if the phone line is not connected). Once in a while it works and I
connect.

Could anyone tell me why this happens? Could it be due to interference on
my phone lines, or is it a Win98 issue?
