The problem sounds like a faulty power supply or inexpensive power supply
putting out EMI or Electromagnetic Internference.   Better grounding of this
system by use of the third wire probably will solve your problem, (though
you mention this you do not believe it could be the issue).   There are means
of shielding the PC to solve this issue, but it is far cheaper and more proper
to just replace the power supply; and, properly ground it.
