The boot process on a laptop is freezing at this message:

        This is a Toshiba Satelite 2505CDS w/ Windows 98. I reinstalled
Windows 98 without a hitch. It will boot to safe mode.  I edited out the
Stacks line in one of the Config.sys files (\windows\command\config.sys)  to
no avail.  NOrton Disk Doctor found about 10 bad hard drive sectors and
marked them.  what next?
