The K6 II is <suppose > to equal the PII in performance and the K6 III is
<suppose > to equal the P III . I have not found this to be the case
however the K6 line is a very good bang for the buck chip if you want to
stay AT case and Socket 7 board.

The K6 III has a much larger cache the the K6II and a special multimedia
instruction set. This translates into better performance. How much better
...well in Office apps ...according to PC MAG expect to see around 20 per
cent faster. However at these speeds you won't notice any practical
difference with your Word Processors or spreadsheets from a K6 2 and would
be better off spending the 100 dollars towards a 7200 RPM hard drive.

Games are another matter. The Intel line has always been a superior chip
for high end graphics and gaming. If you plan on using this chip for gaming
then I would get the fastest chip you can afford.
