Once you see the screen to let you select boot from HDD or CDROM, select
CDROM, next screen will ask you 1)start win98 setup 2)boot with CD support
3) boot without CD support, select boot with CD support. Then you should be
told CDROM has been assigned drive letter D: and give you normal dos prompt.
Now you can access your win98 CD, in d:\win98 directory, you can find FDISK,
FORMAT, SYS, SCANDISK, ...
If you don't need to create more than one partition, select start win98
setup regardless the harddisk is formatted or not: If the harddisk is not
formatted, win98 setup will auto fdisk and format it.
The lazy way to install win98 is: let win98 CD does the job for you.
in fact, you don't need any floppy disk to install win98/2000/ME if your
BIOS support ATAPI CDROM and boot from CD. (you can install NT4 with CD only
too, if you don't need to load any additional storage driver during the
installation)
Last but not least: to aviod problems, don't use disk manager.
