Some people are probably more sensitive than others, but I would think it could be absorbed through the skin since we have pores, which would be a direct access to our blood stream. I've wondered about that and have avoided things like milk baths and such because of it. Sue

I have been making bottles for my granddaughter from a powder, which 
contains a fair amount of lactose. Today, I seem to have mild symptoms, 
and it's not clear to me if it's a reaction to that (or maybe, in 
handling the powder, enough gets into the air and I ingest it) or 
something else.
