This page is so great! We are finding out on our own that our 4 yr. old
daughter has a milk protein allergy. We had been having behavioral
problems with her for over a year. She was aggitated and unreasonable all
the time. One day I watched her melt down about a half-hour after a tall
glass of milk and crackers with cheese. I stopped giving her obvious dairy
(milk, cheese, yogurt) and I saw results in her attitude within days. It's
like we were drugging her. She seemed so much clearer. Our pedi. does
not support our discovery. He told me I'm not the first person to blame
my childs behavior on food and I shouldn't feel bad. Most of my husbands
family has celiacs. She has been tested, but still waiting for the
results. We have her on a dairy free, casein free diet. Her symptoms are
the allergic shiners, leg cramps and irritability. Does this sound
familiar to anyone? It would help to know we are not alone in this. It
has been a real uphill climb to get our girl back to normal. It is also
so hard to explain to people, especially her preschool teachers. They
kind of look at me like I'm making it up. Any feedback would be great.
Also does anyone know if Children's Tylenol or Motrin are safe on this
diet? Sorry such a long winded message!
Thanks,
Cali
