Not all ingredients containing "lact" are derived from milk (except for, of
course, lactose). If I recall correctly, lactic acid is primarily derived
from corn or synthetically.

We've had no trouble with the various baked breads that contain these
compounds. You'd have to check on each one. Best bet is to contact the
bakery/manufacturer.

If the bread is marked Pareve, you can be sure that the ingredients weren't
derived from milk.
