Hi Amy,
Have you noticed that your LI comes back after eating a lot of baked goods,
or cereals? I ask because gluten sensitivity can cause temporary damage to
the brush border enzymes causing lactose itolerance. Why don't you try
going gluten free for a couple of weeks and see what that does?
best wishes,
Ron Hoggan

I suddenly became completely and SEVERELY LI when I was 18 years old. Its
seems to subside at times - I venture to eat dairy and have no problems,
and then for some reason it flares up again a few weeks later. Is this
common? Can intolerance subside? What causes it to subside? Is there
something I could possibly be doing to cause it to return? I have been
incapacitated several times when I thought I had possibly grown out of it
and chanced to try eating lactose without massive doses of lactase
products.
