Hi Marian,
My source, "A Consumer's Dictionary of Food Additives" by Ruth Winter, M.S.
says that Sodium stearoyl lactylate is made of Lactic Acid and Fatty Acids.
If this is so, it could contain lactose, since Lactic Acid "is produced
commercially by fermentation of whey, ....")
Just to make it all a little more interesting [and confusing :-)]
