Subject: Million Mum March
FYI
M
oms march on Washington for gun control legislation
Tens of thousands of mothers from across the United States attended a
Washington rally Sunday to support proposed federal gun control legislation.
There were no official estimates, but Million Mom March organizers said as
many as 500,000 people descended on the National Mall on Mother's Day,
vastly outnumbering a counter rally by a Dallas-based anti-gun legislation
group called Second Amendment Sisters Inc., which said between 2,500 and
3,000 people had joined its demonstration. The rally capped a week of
rhetoric on the issue, with Attorney General Janet Reno lambasting Congress
for not passing the legislation and President Bill Clinton saying the gun
lobby was no match for the nation's mothers.
