"Scoring most often occurs from grit being moved by the wipers, so try
to keep the wipers clean as well as the glass. When I clean the
windscreen (when filling the gas tank) I also clean off the wipers (on
my Morgan, I clean both sides of the glass with the squeegee). Note
that if there has been a long dry spell, a lot of dust will accumulate
on the wipers, only to be ground into the glass when they are finally
used. In wintry places, of course, much grit arrives on the glass with
the slush kicked up by other vehicles and the resulting abrasive will
do a lot of damage. "
Don--thanks for the good idea. Never thought of that. I suspect it's
too late to save my current vehicle, but will remember that for the
next one.
Where did you say you kept that Morgan?
Thanks to all for the helpful suggestions. I guess the short term
answer is always to drive facing away from the sun!
