Hello all,
I'm testing a newly build computer which will be a NT server. the main
config as the following:
PIII-450
256M PC100 SDRAM (brand name)
Intel 10/100 NIC
AHA 2940 UW SCSI host card
Seagate 9G SCSI UW harddisk
Sony CD-RW (ATAPI)
APC UPS with Power management software
SCSI ID: 2940 host card = 7, Seagate HDD = 0
My responsbility for this computer is to test all the hardware to make
sure their working condition and to ensure they work with NT (I'm not
going to install NT server however I have to test it...). Anyway, here
was my plan, I was planning to install NT WS 4 on it and test the
hardware (expect the NIC, I will only try its driver since I don't do
the network), then upgrade it to NT server 4.
However, there is a problem. during the NTWS installation, NT sees the
size of HDD as 86xx Mb, and the 2940 SCSI card as 294x SCSI host card (I
believe both are correct), but the unpartitioned free space is only
shown as 8033Mb. At this point, I terminated NT setup as the
unpartitioned space is not what it sees.
I searched for work around, all I get is MS says SCSI harddisk shouldn't
have problem at all. But the installation clearly showed there is
something wrong. Can anyone give me a clue what's wrong with the setup?
I believe this is a NT issue, if so, how can I fix it?
Extra question: Can I use fdisk to delete NT partition on SCSI harddisk
(I need to give client a clean harddisk)?
Thanks in advance
Jun Qian
