David,
I don't know how to uninstall it, but just in case you're unaware of it,
Directx has a diagnostic program named dxdiag.exe. Each tab shows where
certain problems are, and suggests a fix for each. You may not have to
uninstall directx at all to get your radio software running smoothly again.
I also recall something in Quicktime about directx, but I don't remember
what it was. Hope this helps you.
