I had this same thing happen after installing a network card.

Turns out the address was in use by something else.

Wanna' know the easiest thing to try?   If it's PCI (or ISA for that matter)
try physically moving it to another slot on the motherboard -- beats going
into the BIOS and fiddling with addressing.

While you're in there, write down the model of card and/or FCC # so that you
can download the latest drivers off the web as this may also be at issue.
