There are a number of wireless ISPs - Ricochet is one, Metro is another -
you get a wireless modem using radio freq., speed is around 19 to 28 kps
max.  Coverage is sporadic. Mainly big cities, universities also popular
installers of this roaming service.
You can also go with a cellular modem (analog is 19.2 kps, digital  28 kps)
and keep you current  ISP.
There are also sattelite solutions but those cost big $ and latency is a
problem.
There are more wireless modems coming to market, my guess is that just
around the corner 6 mos to a year you'll see a broader penetration and
coverage.
