Here is some additional information regarding the use of pareve
labelling to indicate a milk-free product.  Read the entire article
if this issue is important to you, but the crux of it is that pareve
means that no milk or milk derivatives have been accidentally added,
and that any dairy machinery has been carefully cleaned before use, but
it does not rule out cross-contamination due to airborne particles or
milk traces which survive the machine cleaning (kosherization).  There
apparently have been cases of pareve foods being found to contain traces
of milk protein.
