: My 5 year old is allergic to milk proteins and recently decided he'll no
: longer drink soy milk. My doctor recommended goat's milk. I'm just leary -
: I can't believe it has none of the same proteins as cow's milk. Do any of
: you use it?

Kelly -

Alyssa is very allergic to goat's milk, just like cow's milk. Some cow's
milk allergic folks can tolerate goat's milk, but many cannot. The proteins are
similar, the question is are they different enough for your son?

If it's the taste of the soy milk, I'd bet goat's milk won't be very popular,
either!

Alyssa drinks Rice Dream Enriched, when she drinks milk. She uses it on cereal,
and I use it in cooking. She had a mild soy allergy as an infant so we
used Rice Dream instead of soy (after age 1, not as infant formula). There are a
wide variety of soy milks available now, maybe trying a different brand or
vanilla flavor would help? The Rice Dream has very little protein, but is enriched
with calcium and vitamins A & D.

Laurie (and Alyssa, 5yo, allergic to dairy, eggs, peanuts and walnuts)
