Hi Barbara, This is my first reply to pcsoft. Yes, it is safe to delete them. I think when your computer did not shutdown, and when restart or start your computer again, if you have Windows 95b, it will notify you that Windows did not shutdown very well, and it will scan your hard drive now. With Windows 98 it will do it on its own on startup. During that procedure, Windows 95 and Windows 98 will make those files, *.chk. Westly.
