This may be a newbie questions but I wanted to know what the differences were between cod
liver oil and the omega 3 fish oils you can buy. Same thing? Different properties? One
better for children than another?

Cod liver oil contains EPA, DHA, and natural vitamins A & D. Most omeg-3 fish oils
capsules contain only EPA. So, you miss out on the all-important DHA. Also, the A & D
which many find helpful in the winter, for immunity and otherwise (or as a source of A & D
not supplied by other foods one eats regularly).

Children need all of the above. Many ADHD children have responded well to cod liver oil
because it is essential for their brain development/optimal functioning/behavior/etc...
studies show adults deficient in DHA (a large segment of the population now) are more
likely to suffer from depression, mood swings, or as they age.... from dementia,
alzheimers, and other such dis-orders. Lack of sufficient vitamin D in the diet has been
linked to higher rates of both cancer and MS.
