I've been reading your list for a while and have found it very interesting, I have been doing the low GI carb protein adequate thing for about 4 years. When I was a low-fat junkie(never a vegetarian) I was able to keep my overall cholesterol at around 170, & my Triglycerides at around 100. However my doctor was concerned with my HDL which hovered around 30. I started exercising pretty seriously at this point but this had minimal effect on the HDL. Despite all of the low fat foods and exercise I could not get under 18% body fat. I also suffered from depression and anxiety which I was taking perscription drugs for. Since changing to my current style of eating I have been as low as 10% body fat and no longer take perscriptions for depression and anxiety My confusion is that some people seem to do real well eating unlimited amounts of saturated fat. When I do that my TC goes up to around 240. All of my other # are fabulous and my ratios look good too. I can get my TC down to around 185 by eating mostly fish and lean meats. I also take fish oil caplets and some other cholesterol beneficial supplements like niacin and B vitamins along with vitamin E. I also supplement my fiber intake with psyllium husks a couple times a day. Has anyone else on the list experienced the same type of results? I love to eat red meat & I do relly like fish but sometimes it can get a little boring. Also
