Elio, I wish I had an absolute answer for you, But as I am sitting here I reviewing the instructions for installing my brand new LaCie CD-RW unit and it IS a USB driven unit, and therin lies all my difficulties. Mostly my problems since I have not ever dealt with USB before and I don't feel comfortable with it yet - I suppose that I should just plug it in and go. The first thing I tried with the USB port was to use it via a converter hub (an entrega hub2U1S1P) to drive my HP 722C printer, and I haven't been able to get it to work, so I am still unsure of myself. Anyway, the LaCie is model "2X2X6X CD-RW DRIVE USB EXT K525" per my Packing slip from LaCie.
