I have noticed that with Smart Update, you seem to need to get the "main" program first. Don't select everything you want in the first (and only) session. Last time I used it, (4.6) it worked well, but was still less than "user friendly". You definitely need to follow instructions, and watch the status bars (and several other places) to proceed properly...
